Invite an Author

Every month, we highlight an author in an initiative called "BCCLS Invite an Author". Many of these authors are happy to visit BCCLS libraries to chat with your book clubs or present programs either in person or via Skype. You can email them directly for more information or to schedule a library visit.

Letter of Introduction:

Dear Colleagues:

Our June author will be participating in BooksNJ2015 and I hope you will come out to meet her (and the 100+ other authors who will be there.)

Young Adult novels full of plot twists and some scary stuff have made our Ms. June a rising star in the world of YA fiction.

I am very pleased to present Trisha Leaver as BCCLS Invite an Author for June 2015.

Trisha Leaver lives on Cape Cod with her husband, three children, and one rather irreverent black lab. She is a chronic daydreamer who prefers the cozy confines of her own imagination to the mundane routine of everyday life. She writes Young Adult Contemporary fiction, Psychological Horror and Science Fiction and is published with FSG/ Macmillan, Flux/Llewellyn and Merit Press.

Since Trisha lives in Massachusetts, visits are somewhat difficult but not at all impossible so a visit via Skype is the suggested route. She does want you to know that she will be in New Jersey on August 9th so if you have an interest in inviting her to your library around that day, she’ll be happy to work with you.

On The Secrets We Keep:

"Readers will be caught up in the very real grief that Ella feels at losing her sister, as well as her desperation to keep her secret. The final pages are not terribly surprising, but watching Ella grapple with questions about life, death, and love makes for rewarding reading."

Publishers Weekly

"Leaver's brilliant novel is the high school version of What Happened to Janie? The compelling premise will attract readers and the strong characterization will keep them enthralled."

VOYA, ***Starred Review***

On Creed by Trisha Leaver and Lindsay Currie:

"...Leaver and Currie do the best thing horror authors can do, presenting protagonists who make smart choices, over and over, but to no avail. Now that's scary."

"A dark, disturbing story that will appeal to teens on the cusp of reading Stephen King…VERDICT A fine choice for teens who crave horror."

School Library Journal

"Debut authors Leaver and Currie make an auspicious foray into YA horror… The authors create a believably desperate and terrifying situation for their characters, and Dee's history of physical and sexual abuse adds another layer of terror to this suspenseful and sporadically gory thriller."

Publishers Weekly

Share her books with your YA audience and email Trisha directly at trishamleaver @ to arrange either a Skype or in person visit. Since she’s travelling, Tricia’s fee for a library visit is $250 but she wants you to know that her fee is ‘very negotiable’ - especially if there are multiple libraries booking around the same time. There are some great library visit possibilities with Trisha Leaver. Invite her.

Warmest regards,
