Record Set Link

You can link to a search results page of titles from a bibliographic record set. You can choose between linking to a view within the default catalog or to a view within a version of the catalog that automatically highlights for your library.

Link that DOES NOT Highlight for Your Library

  1. To create a link for an individual database that does NOT highlight for your library, start with the following:

    http://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/view.aspx?brs=

  2. Then, add the Polaris control number for the bibliographic record set you want to use - you can find this control number at the top of the record set window within the Polaris client. (Look for the title bar at the top, which should read something like: Record Set 252 - Polaris". The 252 is the control number you need.)

As an example, the final link to the record set with a control number of 252 would be:

    http://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/view.aspx?brs=252

Link that DOES Highlight for Your Library

  1. To create a link for an individual database that DOES highlight for your library, start with the following:

    http://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/view.aspx?ctx=

  2. Add your library's CTX # to the end of the URL. (Find your library's CTX #)

For example, for Allendale (CTX # 5), the link so far should look like this:

    http://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/view.aspx?ctx=5

  3. Next, add the following to the end of the URL:

    &brs=

For example, if you were highlighting for Allendale (CTX # 5), the link so far should look like this:

    http://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/view.aspx?ctx=5&brs=

  4. Then, add the Polaris control number for the bibliographic record set you want to use at the end of resulting URL - you can find this control number at the top of the record set window within the Polaris client. (Look for the title bar at the top, which should read something like: Record Set 252 - Polaris". The 252 is the control number you need.)

As an example, the final link to the record set with the control number 252 that would highlight for Allendale (CTX # 5) would look like this:

    http://catalog.bccls.org/polaris/view.aspx?ctx=5&brs=252
